Kumamoto One Piece Statue Tour

Visit 8 of the One Piece statues* in a day, or all 10 statues over 2 days with more time for sightseeing along the way.

The statues cover a large area as they are located in places affected by the Kumamoto earthquakes of 2016.

Visiting the statues is also a great way to see some of Kumamoto prefecture’s diverse scenery; taking you around the mountains of  Aso – the world’s biggest inhabited volcanic caldera, and home to one of Japan’s most active volcanos, through rural Kumamoto all the way out to the Ariake sea.

Limited edition figures of each character are also on sale near each statue site and can be purchased on the tour.

visit up to 8 statues in 1 day

or see all 10 in 2 days!

* Luffy & Chopper are not included in the 8 statue tour. They are both located in Kumamoto City and can visited by public transport.

Kumamoto One Piece Statue Tour information

If you want to go around and get to experience Kumamoto in a Local's perspective, Explore Kumamoto is the best option. Helen is an amazing tour guide, very knowledgeable of the area, friendly and overall a very interesting person to talk to. Helen not only brought me to the statues, but also took me to amazing spots and off the beaten paths along the way. It exudes a very personal tour, more like a road trip and not the usual feel of commercialised "bus tours". Lastly, If you are a ONE PIECE fan and want to visit the crew, I recommend Explore Kumamoto for it because some of the statues are really hard to get to by public transportation, and Helen is more than happy to help you get to the places where each crew are located. 🙂

Kumamoto One Piece Statues Background

Eichiro Oda the creator of ‘One Piece’, the world’s best selling manga and animation series, is a Kumamoto native. In 2016 after Kumamoto was devastated by 2 large earthquakes he donated his time and money towards its regeneration starting the Kumamoto Revival Project

Kumamoto now has ten bronze One Piece statues scattered across the prefecture, ranging from the mountainous Aso region to the coast of the Ariake sea. Each statue is placed in an area that was affected by the earthquakes and each character has a special connection to its location.
